Mary Evelyn Cooley, 95, of Lake Charles, died Thursday September 24, 2015 at her daughter's home, surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born August 30, 1920 in Dry Creek and longtime resident of both Lake Charles and DeRidder. She enjoyed the quilting, crocheting and gardening. She was a faithful member of the Apostolic Temple in Lake Charles. She is survived by her daughter, Frankie Pilcher and sons, Sherman Cooley and wife Gloria and Larry Cooley and wife Bette, all of Lake Charles, sister, Willa Rae Stacener, Orange, Texas; and eight grandchildren as well as numerous great and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Preceding Evelyn in death are her parents, Frank and Mae Simmons Green, six siblings, beloved husband of 62 years Charles Maurice Cooley; daughter, Mary Audele Nugent; sons-in-law, Leemon C. Pilcher and Eugene Nugent; grandchildren, Belinda Hagan and Danny Alan Pilcher. Visitation will be at the Apostolic Temple, 2711 West Prien Lake Road Lake Charles, LA 70605, today Friday, September 25, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Funeral Services will be 1:00 Saturday at the church with Rev. Ricky Treece and Rev. Bret Cooley officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in DeRidder. Pallbearers for the service will be Keaton Pilcher, Brandon Hagan, Drake Hagan, Craig Cooley, Corey Hagan, and Darren Cooley.
