Mary Evelyn Parker

December 23, 1926 — August 31, 2022

Mary Evelyn Parker, 95 of Ragley, LA passed away in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

She was born December 23, 1926 in Lake Charles, LA and grew up in the Ragley area.

Lee L. Parker (Bud) was a family friend and little did she know would become her husband. On March 16, 1943 they exchanged vows and shortly after she accompanied Lee to his United States Army duty station in San Diego, CA.

Together they welcomed nine children, Lee L. Jr., Wanda, Gary, Jackie, Shirley, Jimmy, Cathy, Donald, and Ricky. As a homemaker she cared for her children, husband, and garden. She had a green thumb, they said she could plant a stick and it would thrive to a beautiful bush. She was also lovingly known as Maw Mary.

In her spare time she enjoyed taking trips into town and shopping, you bet she would circle the parking lot countless times waiting for just the right parking spot, always closest to the door. The Topsy VFW was a favorite socialite spot of hers, so much so following a minor fender bender, it was her emergency contact.

She will best be remembered as the family historian, a woman full of character, and for her independence.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her devoted husband, Lee Parker; six children, Lee L. Jr., Wanda, Gary, Shirley, Donald, and Ricky.

Those left to cherish her memory, her children Jackie Parker, Jimmy (Cynthia) Parker, and Cathy (Brian) Prejean, son in-law, Frank Hagen; nineteen grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren; and twenty-two great great grandchildren.

The family to welcome friends in the Chapel of Creel Cemetery on Friday, September 2, 2022 beginning 4pm to 9pm. Visitation to resume, Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 10am until time of service. Funeral services will begin at 2pm. Her service will be led by Brother Lloyd. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in Creel Cemetery.
