Mary Frances "Mef" Dimmick McGraw, 88, of Lake Charles, Louisiana died at 10:57 PM, Friday, September 19, 2014 surrounded by loving family in her Verandah residence. Mrs. McGraw was born in Opelousas, Louisiana, to Ira C. and Mary Ella Evans Dimmick on November 9, 1925. Mrs. McGraw was a 1942 graduate of Lake Charles High School. She attended McNeese State Junior College (now McNeese St Univ), Richmond Professional Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth Univ) in Richmond, Virginia and graduated from Southwest Louisiana Institute (now the Univ of Louisiana at Lafayette). Mrs. McGraw was past president and member of the Lake Charles Junior League. She was also a member of the Family Motor Coach Association chapters of The Crusin' Cajuns, Texas Outlaws, and Stars of Texas; and Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Mrs. McGraw enjoyed traveling in her motorhome with family and RV friends across the country. Mrs. McGraw was a faithful member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, where she served as Superintendent of the Sunday School. She is survived by two daughters, Terri McGraw Saliba and husband, Andre' of Alexandria, VA; and Jerri McGraw Hurst and husband, Billy of Bush, LA; two sons, Forres McGraw and wife, Joan of Dallas, TX; and Tim McGraw and wife, Joyce of Ragley, LA; and one step-son, John McGraw Norman and wife, Debby of King City, CA. She is also survived by one sister, Betty Hutchinson of Johnson City, TN; two brothers, J.W. "Bill" Dimmick and wife, JoAnn of Lake Charles, LA and Tom Dimmick of Lafayette, LA and Key Largo FL; and twelve grandchildren. Mrs. McGraw is preceded in death by her parents; her late husband of 60 years, John McGraw, Jr; and one brother, Ira Clinton Dimmick, a former residence of Hapeville, GA. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Father Peter Cook and Rev. Deborah Heathcock will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday at the church from 1:00 PM until the time of services. A celebration of life will follow the services at The Verandah at Graywood. As per the family's request, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
