Mary Frances Pickett LeJeune, age 69, passed away on April 24, 2015 at Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles, LA after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 9, 1946 in Derby, England, Mary grew up in Vinton, LA and was the oldest of nine children born to Warren Gray and Mary Pickett. After graduating from Vinton High School in 1964, she worked as an X-ray and Ultrasound Technician for many years. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Radiologic Technology in 1992 from Northeast Louisiana University. Mary is survived by her son, Joel (Theresa) LeJeune of Eagan, MN, four brothers: Tom (Karen) Pickett, Nicholas Pickett, Kevin (Sue) Pickett of Vinton, and Tony (Janice) Pickett of Cypress, TX, and two sisters: Barbara (Mike) Gary of Rowlett, TX and Brigid (John) Wiggins of Burbank, CA. Mary's parents, brother, Michael Pickett, and sister, Clare English preceded her in death. Since leaving her childhood home in Vinton, Mary has lived in Lake Charles, LA, Jackson, MS, Denham Springs, LA, Valdosta, GA, Blue Springs, MO and Eagan, MN. Her dream was to retire along the Gulf Coast where she could be near the water. She got to realize that dream first in Long Beach, MS until Hurricane Katrina claimed her residence and again later in Pass Christian, MS where she lived until February 2015. At Mary's request there will be no funeral service and cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA. A Celebration of Life gathering for her family and friends will be held at the home of Kevin Pickett, 1800 Horridge Street, in Vinton, LA from 2 - 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Harbor Hospice for their incredible support in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mary's memory to the charity of their choice.
