Mary Elizabeth Gennuso

Mary Elizabeth Gennuso, 81, passed away peacefully Friday March 7, 2025 surrounded by loving family. She was born July 18, 1943 to Missouri Elizabeth Myers and Louis Middleton Cooley.

In 1959, she pursued her passion for cosmetology, later owning and operating Mary's Beauty Shop, where she worked as a beautician for over 30 years.

Mary had a deep love for the simple joys in life. She could often be found fishing from sunup to sundown, playing a lively game of bingo, or working in her yard gardening. Above all, she cherished her family-her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and her great-grandchildren brought her even greater joy.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Lenisa Ardoin (Kevin) and Kashia Askew (Steven); grandchildren, Coy Janssens, Ali Janssens, Shelbi Janssens, Katelyn Migues (Derrek), Jesse Askew, Brooke Gresham (Josh); great grandchildren, fourteen; sister, Mildred Viviano; brother, Leonard Cooley.

Mary is proceeded in death by her husband, Samuel Gennuso; sister, Patsy Giles; and parents.

Funeral Services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home Tuesday March 11, 2025 at 2:00pm. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00am till 2:00pm. Burial will be held at Consolata Cemetery.
