Mary Eugenia Jean MamMaw Burrow, 89, of Lake Charles, LA went to be with our Lord and Savior at 9:45 AM on Sunday, May 5, 2013 in a Houston, TX hospital with her loving family by her side.
Mrs. Burrow was born February 21, 1924 in Atlanta, GA and has lived most of her adult life in Lake Charles. She was a longtime member of Sale Street Baptist Church and was a part of numerous clubs in the church throughout her years. She was a jack of all trades, from working as a welder on war ships during WWII to being a hairdresser and certified nursing assistant. She enjoyed swimming and loved to teach others to swim. She also loved flowers, cooking and enjoyed having gatherings with her family and friends. Mrs. Burrow will be remembered for never slowing down; she was always on the go.
Mrs. Burrow is survived by her two daughters, Virginia L. Weaver and husband Captain Charles Bud Weaver and Diane E. Trim and husband Jeffrey V. Trim, all of Lake Charles; brothers, Henry Aubrey and Ravanell Freeman, both of Houston, TX; sister, Shirley Smith of Lovelady, TX; grandchildren, Elise Weaver Queenan and husband Trent E. Queenan, Miranda Zoe Weaver, and Evan Trim; great-grandchildren, Trent L., Trace E., Kloey E., Kiley R. and Tyler D. Queenan, all of Lake Charles; and her canine family, Ernie and Bruno.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip G. Burrow; parents, Mary Elizabeth and Murray Eugene Freeman; brothers, Eugene Freeman and Johnny Freeman; and grandson, Garrett Vance Trim.
Her funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Randy Edwards will officiate. Graveside service will be at 3:30 PM on Wednesday at Rosepine Cemetery in Rosepine, LA. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
Pallbearers for the service will be Bud Weaver, Jeff Trim, Trent Queenan, Chad Henry, Tyler Trim, and Mark Fults.
The family would like to express a special word of thanks to St. Luke Episcopal Hospital for their loving care given to MamMaw.
