Mary Jean Marnich

July 21, 1955 — August 1, 2021

Mary Jean Kershaw Marnich, 66, of Lake Charles passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021 in the comfort of her home.

Mrs. Marnich was born in Sulphur, LA, raised and educated in Hackberry and has lived most of her married life in Lake Charles.  Her younger years were pridefully dedicated to all things wife and mom; from room mother, party planner, cheerleader to guidance and counsel, forming friendship that far surpassed any other.  Once her children were in high school, she began working as a Pre-K teacher at St. Luke-Simpson Childcare Center, retiring last year as an administrator with twenty years of service.  Her greatest joy was spoiling her grandchildren.   Mrs. Marnich enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and crabbing and was gifted in her garden of roses, hibiscus and hybrid experiments.  She also enjoyed cooking and baking and was sure to have made something special for her husband when he returned home from work.  Mrs. Marnich was a positive, optimistic spirit who wholeheartedly put all others before herself, always.  She will be most remembered for her love and devotion to her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of forty years, Timothy Keith Marnich; daughter, Melissa Marnich Cox and husband Clinton; son, Nicholas Keith Marnich and four grandchildren, all of Lake Charles; brother, Roland Kershaw of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Terry Kershaw Lamb of Carlyss; nieces and nephews; fur baby, Maggie and her extended family at St. Luke Simpson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Abel Kershaw and Irene East Kershaw and brother, Martin Kershaw.

The family of Mrs. Marnich wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the Oncology team of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for the care, kindness and friendship shown through the years.

Funeral services will be at 6:00 PM Thursday, August 5, 2021 at University Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Dr. John Robert Black will officiate.  Visitation Thursday will be from 4:00 PM until the time of service in the church.
