Mary Lauren Prejean, 64, of Lake Charles passed away Friday November 13, 2015 in a local healthcare facility. Mrs. Prejean was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She was a graduate of St. Charles Academy and McNeese State University. She began her career as a Medical Technologist at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and worked many years at the Medical Lab of Southwest Louisiana, retiring with twenty-five years in the industry. Mrs. Prejean enjoyed traveling with her family for vacation, among her favorite was visiting a friend's cabin in Rocky Mountain National Park. Her fondest memories were of the countless days spent at the Elliott family farm in Glenmora as a little girl, a wife, a mother and a grandmother. Mrs. Prejean also loved riding horses, taking riding lessons and had a soft spot for animals. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of forty-four years, Glenn Joseph Prejean of Lake Charles; four children, Jonathan Elliott Prejean and wife Michelle of Fort Worth, TX, Justin Christopher Prejean of Lake Charles, Courtney Anne Elliott and husband Chad of Lacassine and Kristin Noel Prejean of Lake Charles; six grandchildren, Sara, Alex and Bret Prejean of Fort Worth, TX and Madelyn, Penelope and Dylan Elliott of Lake Charles; one brother, James Elliott Savoie and wife Nancy of Houston, TX; three sisters, Shirley Savoie of Lake Charles, Sharon Odegar and husband David of Orange, TX and Sally Patin and husband Bill of Houston, TX; two brothers-in-law, John H. Prejean and wife Bette of Canyon Lake, TX and Whitney James Prejean and wife Carla of Sulphur; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Laurent and Lena Elliott Savoie. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday November 17, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Glenn Viau will officiate. Visitation Monday will be from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Tuesday will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
