Mary Lou Bell Brown

Mary Lou Brown, 79, passed away Tuesday December 26, 2023 at a local hospital.

Mary Lou was a native and longtime resident of the Lake Area, having moved to San Antonio Texas for the 5 years then finally making her way down to Rockport, Texas a year ago. She graduated from LaGrange High School and was a well-known manicurist in Lake Charles for a number of years before retiring. She attended the “Gator Girls” reunions and kept up with her classmates. She had a true passion for the sport of golf and spent many hours on the local courses.

Preceding Mary in death are her parents, Angus John Bell and Mary Jones Bell and her beloved husband, Bobby Gene Brown. She leaves to mourn her death and cherish her memories, her son Hoyt Lane Brown and wife Victoria, Lake Charles; daughter, Jenny Rebecca Hudson and husband Brent, Rockport, Texas; grandchildren, Brennon Brown and wife Sarah, Ashton Brown and wife Kayla, Sara Willis and husband Kory; Taylor Hudson, Ryan Hudson and Madelyn Gonzales; great grandchildren, Hudson, Emery, Caroline and Jackson; sisters, Ruth Bell Jones and Freda Bell Schexnider as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family of the heart.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Wednesday January 3, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, and will conclude with a Celebration of her life at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of floral tributes, the family requests donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or the St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
