Mary Louise Mansour

Mary Louise Mansour, 84, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016, surrounded by her family.

The oldest of five children, Mary Louise was born in Blytheville, Arkansas on October 28, 1931 to Mary Saleeby Rossie and John Philip Rossie. The family moved to Lake Village, Arkansas and then to Batesville, Mississippi, where Mrs. Mansour graduated from Batesville High School in 1950. She moved to North Carolina with her family, where she attended nursing school and was in the nursing profession for 25 years.

She married the love of her life, John Mansour, in 1970 and moved to Greenville, Mississippi, where they had their only daughter, Mia. She joined her husband in his retail business, Mansour’s Shoes and Ladies’ Boutique, where she loved running the store and going to market as a retail buyer. In 2005 she moved to Lake Charles to join her daughter and son-in-law to enjoy her life with them and her grandchildren.

Mrs. Mansour’s strong Catholic faith was what she held most dear, followed only by her love for family and her cherished Lebanese heritage. A strong family life for her daughter and husband was paramount to her. Daily Mass, running her business, and everyday gatherings with family over countless meals was the norm to instill strong family ties and morals to her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Mia Buttross, son-in-law, Dr. David Buttross, III, and five grandchildren whom she greatly cherished—Mary Rose, Madelyn, Elizabeth, Layla and David, IV; two sisters, Rose Marie Saik Jay of Greensboro, North Carolina and Sue Anna Cooper of Charlotte, North Carolina; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Mansour; her parents, Mary and John Rossie; a sister, Agnes Findlay; and a brother, John Rossie, Jr.

Mrs. Mansour attended Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. A rosary will be recited at the church at 10 a.m. Visitation will follow the rosary until the time of service. Father Jace Eskind will officiate. Entombment will follow immediately at Consolata Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend their utmost gratefulness to Dr. Butch Fredericks, Dr. Gerry Hebert, the doctors and staff of Harbor Hospice, and Mrs. Joey Trahan for all of their tireless care, love, and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Catholic Charities or to the American Cancer Society.
