Mary Martha "Massie" Doucett, 101, of Lake Charles died on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in a local hospice facility. Mrs. Doucett was born on November 11, 1913 in Cameron, LA and grew up in the Cameron/Big Lake area. When she married, she and her husband moved to Lake Charles. She was a long time member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. She will be remembered for her cake decorating skills. She also enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and sewing and could often be found babysitting. Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Gerrie Doucett McCoy and Jessie Mae Doucett Petee and husband Charles all of Lake Charles; a son, Raphael Lynn Doucett and wife Trish of Sulphur; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, H.P. "Slim" Doucett; a grandson, Dwayne Michael McCoy; and seven siblings, Dupre "Pojo", Emile, Demostan "Tan", Stanford, and Alphe LaBove, Daleta "Tootsie" Miller, and Olive Fontenot. A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. The Rev. Jeff Starkovich will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Friday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church at 11:30 AM.
