Mary Maxine Arendt, 64, of Lake Charles died at 5:00 PM on November 3, 2012 in her residence with her loving family at her side.
Mrs. Arendt was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to the parents of Sarah and Wilton Meyers. She was raised in Sulphur, Louisiana, and has lived in Lake Charles for the past 37 years. She was a 1966 graduate of Sulphur High School. After graduation Mary attended McNeese State University where she received a BA in Education. Mary began her teaching career with the Diocese of Lake Charles, teaching at Immaculate Conception Cathedral School. Mary then began working for the Calcasieu Parish School Board as a teacher for over 30 years working at J.J. Johnson and at the Juvenile Detention Center. Mary was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. Aside from teaching, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years Michael Ervin Arendt of Lake Charles, two daughters, Michelle Renay Arendt of Lake Charles, Tracy Allison of Lafayette, LA, two sons, Jonathan Patrick and wife Martha of Toronto, Canada, and Christopher Geary Arendt and wife Jessica of Westlake, LA, one brother, Andy Meyers of Sugarland, TX, two sisters, Wynona Ambler of Carlyss, LA, and Madelyn Levy and husband Dr. Richard Levy of Cincinnati, Ohio, three grandchildren, Madalynne Mary Arendt, Michael William Arendt and Cecily Elizabeth Arendt.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bill Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Dutch Cove Cemetery in Hackberry, Louisiana. Visitation will begin on Tuesday at 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at 8:00 AM until the time of services.
