Mary "Neta" Reed

Mary "Neta" Reed, 93, of Lake Charles, LA died Friday, December 12, 2014 in a local care facility surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Oakdale, LA on November 27, 1921 to Nathaniel and Marie Johnson. She has lived in Lake Charles, LA since 1950. She worked at Gibson's as a sales clerk and also eight years at Selmart Clothing Store. She was a Crossing Guard for St. Margaret Catholic Elementary School for a number of years. She also enjoyed embroidering, cooking, and spending time with grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Jeffrey Reed; one daughter, Annette Arabie and husband Martin of Many, LA; six grandchildren, Nathan Allen Bertrand, James Kurk Bertrand, Rayford Kent Bertrand, Marty Arabie Jr., Terrell Gene Arabie, and Darren Troy Arabie; 14 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her first loving husband, Dudley Bertrand; one son, Gene Bertrand of Lake Charles, LA. Services will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home with a rosary being prayed at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate services.
