Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Pearl Listach, 80, will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church of Natchitoches Saturday, October 13,2012 at 12:00 PM. The service will be officiated by Father John O'Brien. Burial will be on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 10:00 AM in St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Melrose, Louisiana.
The family will start receiving visitors at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday, October 12, 2012 from 4:00 PM 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday, October 13,2012 at 9:30 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Mrs. Listach was born on September 15, 1932 to Ernest Llorens and Mary LaCour Llorens. She is a 1956 graduate of Southern University. She earned a master's degree plus 30 hours from Northwestern State University.
Throughout her life, Mary was a devoted and life- long member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. She was also a member or affiliate of the Natchitoches Parish Hospital Foundation, Knights and Ladies of St. Peter Claver (the former Grand Lady), Alter and Rosary Christian Mothers, and a retired teacher of the Natchitoches Parish School System where she taught for over 30 years. She was one of the first to organize a Neighborhood Watch in East Natchitoches, Louisiana. She was also an active participant in the National Night Out Program designed to promote neighborhood spirit and safer communities.
Her husband, Nora Listach, Jr., her parents Ernest and Mary LaCour Llorens, and a brother, James Llorens, preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Nora Listach, III and Patrick Listach, her daughter, Charlotte Ann Bushnell; two daughters in law, Virginia Listach and Carolyn Listach and one son-in-law, Kenneth Bushnell. She was blessed with ten grandchildren whom she dearly loved and who loved her and fondly referred to her as MeMaw: Kristen Bushnell, Kaylan Listach, Mariah Listach, Karlotta Bushnell, Hollie Listach, Jared Listach, Patrick Listach , Matthew Listach, Kari Bushnell, and Blaine Listach. She is survived by three brothers: Ernest( Barbara) Llorens, Louis (Carolyn) Llorens, Sydney (Annie) Llorens, and three sisters: Dorena ( Joseph) Chevalier, Patricia Taylor, and Sadie ( Raymond) Metoyer; and sisters-in-law, Rosa Llorens, Cora L. Fitch-Kendell, Gracie Rucker, Learmie Conerly, brothers-in-law, John Listach and Rev. Freddie Henderson, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
She will be remembered to all who knew her as a wonderful, kind and devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church building fund in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
