Mary Rena Derouen

The life of Mary Rena Fontenot DeRouen, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, came to an end at the age of 93 on Thursday, March 15, 2012. She was a native of Branch, Louisiana, grew up in the Fenton and Eunice areas, and lived most of her life in Lake Charles until 2000, when she moved to The Woodlands, Texas, to be closer to her children.

Mrs. DeRouen was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church while living in Lake Charles and later, while living in The Woodlands, she was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

She is survived by three children and their spouses, Whitney Courville and his wife Patricia of Plano, Texas, Douglas Courville and wife Lynda of Houston, Texas, and Sandra Schucker and her husband Robert of The Woodlands, Texas; two step daughters, Gloria Hoffpauir and husband Larry and Sherry Doucet, both of Lake Charles; one brother, Lenard Fontenot of Lafayette; seventeen grandchildren, forty great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Elleris DeRouen; her parents, Lenard and Elvener Fontenot; brothers and sisters, Villa Joseph Fontenot, Hilman Fontenot, Alton Daniel Fontenot, Eunice Bourque, Reva Marie Alexander, and Vernon Fontenot; two grandsons, Trent Ryan Courville and Stephen Hoffpauir; and her first husband and the father of her children, Addy Courville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 19, 2012, at Johnson Funeral Home. Father John Huckaby will officiate. Entombment will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 until 8 p.m., with a rosary to be held at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 a.m until service time.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Benjamin Courville, Johnathan Courville, Clay Whitney Courville, Brad Schucker and Jerry Brown.
