Mary Sue Book Frantz

Mary Sue Book Frantz, 77, of Westlake died at 10:00 PM on Monday, May 21, 2012 in her residence.


Mrs. Frantz was born on February 5, 1935 in Natchez, MS. For many years, she owned and operated Town and Country Beauty Shop in Westlake before becoming a teacher's aide for special education in the Lake Charles/Sulphur area and an active member of LAE (Louisiana Association of Educator's). She was also a loving and dedicated homemaker, raising her children as well as foster children. Mrs. Frantz was of the Assembly of God Faith. She was the director of a sign language choir from Westlake First Assembly of God and traveled with them around the Gulf Coast area.


She and her husband, Lowell, enjoyed square dancing with the Bayou Promenaders and also camping and fishing at their Toledo Bend camp.


Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 34 years, Lowell Frantz of Westlake; three sons and their spouses, Barney C. Book, Jr. and Mary of Westlake, Byrel H. Book and Connie of Ragley, and Bryan H. Book and Kayla of Montgomery, LA; foster children, Brian Bertrand and Brenda B. St.Clair both of Baytown, TX; step son, Micheal A. Frantz and a step daughter, Denise Frantz Murphee and husband William of all of Lake Charles; four brothers, Joe, Johnny, LA, and Earl Hayes all of Pineville; a sister, Pearl Barrick of Baker, LA; thirteen grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Bonnie and Issac Hayes; first husband, Barney C. Book, Sr., a daughter, Brenda S. Book LeBlanc; a granddaughter, Brittney L. Book; and brothers, Issac Hayes, Jr. and Harry Hayes.


Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, May 24, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Steve Grizzle and Rev. Richard Watson will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake. Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.


Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Brad, Shawn, Brandon, and Colby Book, Carl Michael LeBlanc, and Joey Furby.
