Mary "Mandy" Trahan

February 21, 1980 — April 15, 2025

Mandy Trahan, 45, of Carlyss, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home on April 15, 2025, surrounded by family after a valiant battle with ALSP. She was born in Sulphur, Louisiana, on February 21, 1980–the oldest of three Vallette siblings. She grew up in Carlyss and was a very talented athlete who played soccer, softball, basketball and rodeoed. Mandy married her best friend, Kaleb Trahan, of Creole, on April 21, 2007; the couple shared 20 beautiful years together and were married for 18 years. Mandy had a well-earned reputation for being one of the most talented jitterbug dancers. Watching her float around the dance floor effortlessly seemed to impress everyone. Her favorite dancing partner, though, was her husband. Mandy worked as a dental assistant in several Southwest Louisiana offices before devoting her life to her children as a stay at home mother. Her children were the most important thing in the world to her, and she rarely left their side. Mandy enjoyed dressing her children in perfectly coordinated outfits and, like any great Cajun mom, you could often find her baby girls wearing bows bigger than their heads. For her, the little things and the details mattered. Even in her sickness, which took so much from her, Mandy mothered her children with every ounce of love and energy she had left. She is preceded in death by her father, Matthew Carlton Vallette who was her everything; she was a true daddy’s girl who adored her father. She is survived by her mother Della Jean Abshire Vallette; husband Kaleb Trahan; children: Maebree Arlene (12), Darbee Mandrelle (7), Kambree Dee (5) and Brodie Matthew (2); sister Dee Vallette; brother Marvin Vallette, sister-in-law Diana Vallette (and their children Elaina, Dane, Juliet, Maria and Victoria); Kaleb’s parents Keith and Katie Trahan; brothers-in-law Jerry (Leslie)Trahan and Joey (Eva) Trahan; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Those who knew and loved Mandy will remember her for her piercing green eyes, her love of bingo, her love of sports (if the Dallas Cowboys were playing, Mandy was watching) and her deep rooted faith. It was a life entirely too short but a life very well lived. Her legacy will continue on in the lives of her children who were the loves of her life. Mandy gave even after her passing, donating her brain for study with the goal of finding a cure for ALSP.
