Matthew Gilles Leblanc

May 14, 1993 — December 9, 2016

Matthew, 23, was born to Kim Allison LeBlanc (Hebert) of Sweetlake, LA and Gilles RJ LeBlanc of Dalhousie, NB, Canada on May 14, 1993.

Matt attended and graduated from Bell City High School in 2012. After high school, Matthew joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO (MOS 31 Bravo). Upon returning back to SWLA, Matt found the love of his life and they had a beautiful baby girl together, but all the love in the world couldn’t mask the pain Matt felt internally. After much help from the VA, and vices to help one cope, Matthew began to self-medicate. Through the love and support of his family, Matt became a stronger person, but on the morning of December 9, 2016, he succumbed to his addiction.

Matt leaves behind his mother, Kim Allison Hebert; sister, Chesney Claire Hebert; daughter, Hollyn Klaire Smith; his grandparents, Nona and Jerald Helms; along with several cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Matthew was a light in the world to all that knew him. A smile to all those he just met and a beacon of hope – not hopelessness to all those that are left behind.

The pain is over…no more tears. Our Matty is safe now in the arms of a loving and nurturing God.

His funeral service will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Wayne Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in Sweetlake Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Monday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
