Matthew J. Toups

Matthew Jared Toups, 51, of Carlyss passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, in a local hospital.

Matt, a graduate of Sulphur High School Class of 1988, was a process plant operator for Targa in Carlyss. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and riding around on his golf cart. He was an avid fan of Astros baseball and LSU football. His greatest joy was cooking for and hanging out with his family and friends on his patio, which was his prized possession. Matt was the “life of the party” and will be remembered for his pranks, outgoing personality, and zest for life.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Romero Toups.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 28 years, Shawna Bertrand Toups; two daughters, Ashleigh Sharon Toups of Houston, and Hannah Brooke Toups of Carlyss; father, Leon Toups his wife Lola Toups of Westlake; brother, Micah Toups of Virginia; his father and mother-in-law, John and Geradine Bertrand of Sulphur; and sister-in-law Jennifer Bertrand. He will also be greatly missed by his “grand dogs”, Beau, Benjie, and Drexler.
