Matthew Vaughn Crochet

Matthew Vaughn Crochet, 36, of Moss Bluff, LA, died at 7:55 AM on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in a Lafayette hospital.

Matthew was born November 14, 1976 in Lake Charles, LA, and lived most of his life in Westlake, LA, where he was a 1994 graduate of Westlake High School. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp and worked for sixteen years in the construction field, where he most recently was a Certified Welding Inspector. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where he was involved with ACTS missions. He enjoyed working out and loved spending time with his children and family. He will always be remembered for his smile and beautiful blue eyes.

Matthew is survived by his wife, Amie Woody Crochet of Moss Bluff; parents, Wade and Sue Crochet of Moss Bluff; children, Bailey Vaughn Crochet and Madison Michelle Crochet of Lake Charles; brothers, Jamie Lynn Guidry and wife Hope of Conway, AR, Chad David Guidry and partner Bobby Burch of Houston, TX and Daniel Coty Crochet and wife Amanda of Westlake, LA; grandparents, L.G. and Bobby Lopez of Sulphur, LA; three God-children; numerous nieces and nephews, that brought him much joy; as well as other family members and friends.

His funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Father Nathan Long will officiate. Burial will follow in New Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Cursillo Rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Tuesday from 8:00 AM to 9:40 AM.
