Maureen T. Jessen Sanders

Maureen T. Jessen Sanders, 70, of Lake Charles passed away at 9:58 AM on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 in a local hospice facility surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Sanders was born on May 5, 1949 in Lake Charles where she resided all of her life and was a graduate of St. Charles Academy.  She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.

She was affectionately called “Yaya” by her adored grandchildren.  She will be remembered as a devoted wife to her loving husband and as a dedicated mother and grandmother who was very proud of her family.  She enjoyed and cherished every moment with them.  Mrs. Sanders never met a stranger and was loved by all who were fortunate to be in her presence.  She could often be found playing Bourré “Booray” with a group of ladies on Mondays and Saturdays.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years, Jack Robert Sanders; children, Julie Marie Sanders Diaz (Victor) and Todd Joseph Sanders; sister, Janice Marie Jessen Manuel; brother, Paul Joseph Jessen (Brenda); a sister in law, Jan Jessen; and four grandchildren, Jordan, Maddox, Jax, and Liam Diaz all of Lake Charles.

She was preceded in death by a son, Chad Robert Sanders; parents, Vivian and Maurice Jessen, Sr.; a brother, Maurice “Sonny” Jessen, Jr.; and a brother in law, Daniel Manuel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 14, 2019 in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.  The Rev. Trey Ange will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will begin on Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Saturday from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church at 9:30 AM.
