Maurice Stanley Dowers

Maurice Stanley Dowers, 73, of Sulphur passed away on November 2, 2013 in a local hospital. Maurice loved old gospel music, flea markets and being on the river where he enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and camping. He enjoyed watching western movies, being with his family and also cooking, especially chicken. Maurice is survived by his two children, Kathy Dowers of Galveston, TX and Kevin Dowers of Sulphur, LA; 6 grandchildren, Justin Dowers, Derek Dowers, Daniel Dowers, Jaclyn Dowers, Jesse Dowers and Ann Owens; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Melvin Dowers, Eugene Dowers, Emmett Dowers, and Keith Dowers; sisters, Pauline Dowers and Brenda Dowers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Nora Dowers and great-granddaughter, Melissa Dowers. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Celebration Worship Center in Sulphur on Hwy. 27 South with Pastor Kevin Williams officiating. Burial will be in Royer Cemetery under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of the service.
