May Rose Rosie Newhouse

May Rose "Rosie" Newhouse, age 78, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011, at a local hospital.

Born July 16, 1932, she was a homemaker most of her life. Rosie was a faithful and active member of Westlake United Methodist Church. She enjoyed life to the fullest, having been a member of Swinging Rebels Square Dance Club. Family time was something she loved as well as organizing anything and everything she could. Rosie enjoyed genealogy as well having been a member of S.W.L.A. Genealogy Society. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Preceding her in death was an infant daughter, Marsha Jane Newhouse.

Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Carl Newhouse of Westlake; three daughters, Susie Knowles and husband, Reggie of Westlake, Adrienne Byrd and husband, David of Hillsville, Virginia, and Karen Oliver and husband, Ed of Westlake; seven grandchildren, Sherry Meredith, Candra Thornton, Travis Horton, Matthew Byrd, Steven Byrd, Marsha McMillin, and Mark McMillin; and four great-grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Betty Northen will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 2, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and again on Thursday, February 3, from 8 a.m. until time of service.
