Maye Benoit Jones, 73, of Ragley passed away Thursday, December 04, 2014 in a local hospital. Mrs. Jones was a native of Lake Charles and has lived nearly forty-five years in Ragley. She attended St. Charles Catholic Academy and continued on to raise her family and live her life with devotion to the Lord. Mrs. Jones worked many years as a clerk at Frank Cole's Grocery in Ragley. She enjoyed flower gardening and was a talented floral arranger, a beautiful seamstress and a great cook. She always had a open door, a welcoming home and enough food for everyone. She loved family gatherings. In her eyes, if you were a friend, you were family. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Ladies Altar Society and Catholic daughter's. Mrs. Jones will be remembered for her way of making each child and grandchild feel special and as an admirable Christian woman of faith and prayer. She leaves to cherish her memory, five children, Farrell Rusty Benson (Angela) of Lacassine, Debbie Rutherford (Terry) of Ragley, Becky Stineff (Jesse) of Mauriceville, TX and Scotty Benson and Randall Shane Benson (Dana), both of Ragley; nine grandchildren, Rusty Shawn Benson (Alice Faye), Jacob O'Neal Benson, Dylan Lee Benson, Kayla Brooke Rutherford, Rufus Jasen McEvers (Kelsey), Joseph Paul McEvers, Voneata Marie Conner, Walter Scott Benson (Brandi) and Shelby Nicole Benson; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roger Benoit and Lane Benoit, both of Lake Charles; one sister, Vickie Fontenot (Roland) of Basile; many nieces and nephews; special cousin, Teresa Bertrand (Lukas) and dear friend Theresa Cox. She was preceded by her parents, Levens and Rena Richard Benoit; one brother, Virgil Benoit; two sisters, Leana Harris and Roberta Houston; son-in-law, Rufus Gerard McEvers; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Montie Benson and granddaughter, Rashonda Nicole Benson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 06, 2014 in St. Pius X Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Tim Goodly will officiate. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley. Visitation Friday will be from 11:00 AM until 10:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Visitation Saturday will be from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM in St. Pius X Catholic Church hall.
