Melba Honeycutt Stine, 88, of Lake Charles passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024 in her residence.
She was born on February 13, 1936, in Choudrant, LA, and lived in Lake Charles for the entirety of her life. Mrs. Stine devoted over 35 years of her career to Home Furniture, where she made lasting contributions to her workplace.
Her deep faith and unwavering commitment to her church were central to her life. A dedicated member of St. Luke Simpson United Methodist Church since 1962, she was an active volunteer for 37 years, contributing in many ways to the life of the church and its congregation. Mrs. Stine was involved in Bible studies, the United Methodist Women, and the church's mission ministry. Her service extended to being a church hostess and also the secretary and treasurer for the Retired Minister Homes Board for Louisiana, where she was known for her dedication and warm heart.
Outside of her church activities, Mrs. Stine had a love for travel and cherished the memories made while exploring new places with her husband. She also enjoyed playing computer games in her spare time, which brought her joy.
She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Debbie Myers (Ross Scott).
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Dale "Mano" Stine; son, Philip Stine; parents, Dollie and Gordon Honeycutt; and siblings, Bonnie Smith, Ollie Boullion, and Howard Honeycutt.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at St. Luke Simpson United Methodist Church. Pastor Tracy MacKenzie and Rev. Amy Castro will officiate. Burial will follow in Pinehill Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin in the church from 10:30 AM until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the general memorial fund at St. Luke Simpson Methodist Church, 1500 Country Club Rd., Lake Charles, LA 70605.
