Melba Lea Vincent, 78, of New Iberia, LA, died at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in a New Iberia hospital.


Ms. Vincent was born May 11, 1932 in Hackberry, LA, where she graduated high school. She lived in the Hackberry / Lake Charles area until moving to New Iberia over twenty years ago. While living in Hackberry, she was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, where she played the organ. She worked as a legal secretary at Stockwell and St. Dizier Law Firm for a number of years and for Dr. Charles Fellows. She most recently worked as an apartment manager in New Iberia, retiring four years ago. She enjoyed playing Bingo, but the biggest joy in her life was spending time with her nieces and nephews. She will always be remembered as a loving aunt!


Ms. Vincent is survived by her sister, Helen Moses of Houston; nephews, Craig Vincent of Hackberry, Ronnie Vincent of Baton Rouge, Donnie Vincent and wife Janelle of Lake Charles, Gregory Vincent and wife Nancy of Athens, AL, and Kirby Little and wife Bonnie of Orlando, FL; nieces, Charlene Ebersole and husband Kenneth of Sulphur, LA, Shanna Gilbert, Paula Taylor and husband Jimmy, all of Lake Charles, Karen Whitehead of Iowa, LA, Karlyn Meyers and husband Joe of New Iberia, and Kelly Norris and husband Joe of Western Grove, AR; a host of great-nieces and nephews; and an array of great-great-nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugenie and Everett Vincent; brothers, Ernest and Russell Vincent; sister, Gloria Vincent Little; nephew, Rusty Vincent; and niece, Kathy Little.


Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 27, 2010 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry, LA. Father Rommel Tolentino will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter the Apostle Church Cemetery in Hackberry. Visitation will be at the church hall on Monday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service with a rosary at 1:30 PM.
