Melinda Hanley Guarino, 63, of Moss Bluff, died at 6:20 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2011, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Guarino was born on August 4, 1947, in Church Point, Louisiana, and lived in Jennings for 20 years. She was a graduate of Jennings High School and lived in Moss Bluff for 32 years. She worked for Citgo Petroleum for 34 years. Her life was sustained by her deep faith in God. When she wasn't at work, her time was spent with her family that she loved so dearly.
Mrs. Guarino is survived by her children, Jacki LaFargue Nixon and husband Mark of Lake Charles; Clay LaFargue and wife Daniel of Laguna Niguel, CA; Candace LaFargue Long and husband Charles of Madison, MS; Bobby LaFargue and wife Kourtney of Moss Bluff; Angela Guarino Madden and husband Jason of Moss Bluff; Toni Michelle Guarino of Moss Bluff; and stepson John W. Guarino, Jr., and wife Kristi of Tampa, FL; mother, Judy Hanley of Jennings; brothers, Richard Hanley and wife Julie of Baton Rouge; Mark Hanley and wife Kelly of Arlington, TX; Michael Hanley and wife Maria of LaPlace; sisters, Sheila Miller and husband Glenn of Lafayette, Becky Hamilton and husband Brian of Lake Charles; Sharon Fuselier and husband Danny of Moss Bluff, and Jean Fontenot and husband Nathan of Jennings; and 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband John W. Guarino, Sr. and father Dr. H. A. Hanley. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Doyle Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, and from 8 a.m. until service time on Thursday. A scripture service will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home with the Reverend Keith Pellerin officiating.
