Melinda Lee Hewitt, 58, of Lake Charles, passed away on Sunday February 2, 2014 at Memorial Hospital. Melinda was born June 22, 1955 in Shreveport, to William D. "Bill" and Gloria Gene Watson. Melinda was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her life is an amazing example of strength, courage, and devotion. Above all, she was a servant of God, and loved in a way that magnified the love of Christ. She was a member of Enterprise Boulevard Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School, doing what she enjoyed most, serving the Lord. She will be dearly missed, but her life and love will continue to live through those whom she loved most. Melinda is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Kenny Hewitt; her daughter and son-in-law, Hollie and BJ Lampton; her son and his girlfriend, Hunter Hewitt and Ashley Teasdale; her grandchildren Isaac and Isaiah Lampton, and one expected to arrive in July; mother, Gloria Watson; all of Lake Charles; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Danny Lambert of Sulphur Springs, TX; and mother-in-law, Otha "Doc" Hewitt of Lake Charles. Visitation will be today, February 3, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, with funeral services being conducted at 11:00 AM with Brother Jason Clark officiating. Burial will be in Boxwood Cemetery near Merryville, LA.
