Melva Janece Alexander

Melva “Janece” Alexander passed away peacefully on February 6, 2022, at home with family at her side.  Born August 16, 1937, in Crews TX, to Thelbert and Eron Hudgens, the third of seven siblings.  

Janece married Fred Alexander in 1961 having met at the Drugstore where she worked.  Together they raised their 6 children mainly in Sulphur.  Janece was an accomplished seamstress and owned her own sewing shop. She also worked at the family mechanic shop, Auto Clinic in Sulphur.  Her life was full, being a homemaker, mother, and wife.  However, Janece’s greatest joy were her ever growing number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Janece recently became a great-great Grandmother but unfortunately, she didn’t get to meet the newest addition, Kharson Grey. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her six children and their spouses, Charles Randall of Lake Charles, Lynn and Bill of Reno, Rex and Toni of Lake Charles, Kirk and Gillian of Dallas, Paula and Myron of DeRidder and Pamela also of DeRidder; 22 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  She is preceded in death by her husband Fred Alexander, her daughter in law, Belinda; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren; her parents; and sibling Harold Hudgens.  

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday February 16, 2022, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday February 15, 2022, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Wednesday from 08:00 AM until the time of the service.  Burial will be at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery.
