Melvin B. Doucet, 75, passed away on January 27, 2018 surrounded by his loving family and in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Doucet was a graduate of LaGrange High School where he played for their football team. After school he served his country in the United States Army. He was an Operator Supervisor for Operators Inc. In his free time he enjoyed golfing and playing cards with friends. He liked to pass time working in his garden. Melvin was a fan of the New Orleans Saints and LSU football teams. He was an avid deer, duck, and alligator hunter. He loved his family and telling his jokes. Melvin was a member of South City Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eva Doucet; daughter, Reva Doucet; son, Rock Doucet; sister, Joyce Williams; brother, Ray Doucet; three grandchildren, Josh Avery, Cody Avery, and Sasha Bourque; and three great granddaughters.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Whitney and Hazel Doucet; two sisters, JoAnn Holmes, and Betty Comeaux; and brother, Gerald Doucet.
A funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home at 11AM on Sunday, February 4, 2018. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home following the service. Visitation will begin at the funeral home on Saturday, February 3rd at 4PM to 8PM and will continue Sunday morning at 9AM until the start of the service.
