Melvin Ray Wilks, 49, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014 in his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Doucet officiating. Burial will follow in Big Woods Cemetery under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday the 9 of July 2014 from 3-9 p.m. at the funeral home and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Melvin was a lifelong resident of Sulphur. He worked as a truck driver for the City of Sulphur. Melvin is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Kevin) Vincent and Kimberly (Adam) Malos; one son, Austin Derrick (Keegan Briscoe) Wilks; his mother, Margaret Wilks; ten grandchildren; sister, Bonnie (Chressy) McCauley; brothers, Robert (Darlene) Wilks and John Wilks; one neice, Brittani Lambert and the mothers of his children, Angela Broussard and Pamela LaKhani. He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Ray Wilks; and one granddaughter, Brooklyn Vincent .
