Melvin Roy Wilks

October 21, 1950 — July 27, 2010

Melvin Roy Wilks, 59, of Moss Bluff died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 in the comfort of his home.


Mr. Wilks lived most of his life in the Lake Charles area and was a graduate of Marion High School and McNeese State University. He retired a Warehouse Supervisor after nearly twenty years of service for Gulf States Utilities/Entergy. Following his retirement, he owned and operated Three-Way Tire and Alignment in Bridge City, TX.


Mr. Wilks was an avid sports fan, football, basketball, baseball, golf. He loved it all, and was especially partial to the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers. During his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.


He will be greatly missed, leaving to honor his memory, his mother, Maxine Chapman Wilks of Moss Bluff; daughter, Cindy Morse and husband Toney of Sulphur; son Jamie Wilks and wife Susan of Sulphur; four grandchildren, Ariel, Brooks and Tristan Morse and Reece Wilks, all of Sulphur; one brother, Jerry Wilks of Moss Bluff; one sister, Barbara Fowler of Moss Bluff and his ex- wife, Sue Wilks of Bridge City, TX.


He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby G. Wilks.


Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 29, 2010 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Jon C. Hair will officiate. Interment will follow in Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation Thursday will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
