Merline Lopez

Merline Theresa Cormier Lopez, 83, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 5:57 PM on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 in a local care facility.

 

Mrs. Lopez was born January 5, 1932 and raised in Acadia Parish, LA and the Welsh area. He worked as a homemaker and raised her family until working at Oak Park Middle School for twenty-five years. She worked as a cafeteria technician and retired in 1992. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church for many years. She enjoyed gardening and fishing and loved to clean.

 

Mrs. Lopez is survived by her sons, Delton Credeur, Jr. of Lake Charles, John Credeur and wife Susie of Friendswood, TX, and Allen Credeur and wife Joanna of Lake Charles; daughters, Barbara Hebert of Lake Charles, Patsy Vincent of DeRidder, LA, Helen Credeur and partner Wilton “Butch” Lee of Lake Charles, and Elaine Trahan and husband Brian of Lake Charles; brothers, Dean Cormier and wife Margaret and Horace Cormier and wife Marie, all of Bridge City, TX; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a host of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren that she loved dearly; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of eighteen years, Eli Lopez; son, David Anthony Credeur; parents, Odela and Rena Cormier; and grandson, Joshua LeDoux.

 

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
