Merlyn Marie Weeks

Merlyn Marie Weeks, 70, of Lake Charles died at 11:18 AM on Sunday, July 14, 2013 in her residence.

Mrs. Weeks was born in Lake Charles on February 15, 1943 to the parents of Thelma and Dempsey Miller. She was a 1959 graduate of Sulphur High School. Mrs. Weeks worked for the Calcasieu Parish School board for over 30 years as a school bus driver. Merlyn also worked as a Beautician in the lake area for many years. She and her husband Robert were owners of University Conoco from 1977 to 1989. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters.

She is survived by two sons: Johnny Lee Weeks and his wife Dawn of Vinton, LA, and Scott Douglas Weeks of Lake Charles, LA, one sister, Kathryn Miller Nevils and her husband Russell Edward of Vinton, LA, one brother, Fred Albert Miller and his wife Nicole Cross of California, two grandchildren Joshua Weeks and Brooke Weeks.

Mrs. Weeks is preceded in death by her husband Robert Weeks.

Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday with a rosary to be held at 6:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday July 17, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church. Father Wayne LeBleu will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens.
