Michael A. "Mike" Mccall

Michael A.”Mike” McCall passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016.

He was born March 27, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland to parents Austin J. McCall and wife Genevieve. The family moved to New Orleans in 1938. Mike was a graduate of Jesuit High School and Soule Business College. He attended SLI in Lafayette, La. and the University of Houston.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Graybar Electric Company for 38 years retiring as manager of Graybar’s Lake Charles branch. He continued in the electrical industry as a manufacturer’s representative with Gulf States Electrical Sales Company for 12 years.

Mike met his beloved wife Maria Herminia Callejas in 1962 and they were married that same year. Together they raised a wonderful son and daughter. A former member of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral parish, he served as Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan. Mike McCall was active in Rotary, was a Paul Harris Fellow, and became president of the Rotary Club of Lake Charles in 1985-86.  He was also active in the Quelqueshue Investment Club, serving as the club’s secretary for over 12 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Agnes Joy McCall and Elizabeth R. McCall.

He is survived by his wife, Dr. Maria Herminia McCall, his son Ricardo M. McCall, M.D. (Laurie), his daughter Maria Elena McCall-Brandts (Dirk), and four grandchildren: Decker Brandts, Austin McCall, Allie McCall and Alexander McCall.

A memorial funeral mass will be celebrated at 2 pm on Friday, September 30th at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church on 221 Aqua Drive, Lake Charles, La. 70605. Inurnment will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.
