Michael Anthony Long

Michael Anthony Long, 64, of Texas died on Thursday, February 16, 2012 in Houston, TX.

Mr. Long was born on May 21, 1947 in Lake Charles, LA to Allen Green and Goldie Rich Long. Michael lived an independent life and was active in several organizations related to Disability and Independent Living Rights.

He was born, raised and educated in Moss Bluff/Lake Charles area and spent more than 40 years in Texas. Mike enjoyed the many adventures in the Houston Metro area and his interests included playing dominoes, watching movies and enjoying his close friends.

He is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout Louisiana and Texas.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Gwendolyn Ann Long, Opal Long Morasco; and brothers A.G. Long, Jr. and Curtis Dean Long.

These words describe Mike best; fiercely independent and strong willed. He especially loved and missed his sister, Gwen. His greatest achievement was living an independent life and working tirelessly for self-determination, self-respect, and equal opportunity.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Old Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Chris Fuselier will officiate.
