Michael David Holladay, 46, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012, in his home.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Michael lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He was a 1985 graduate of Barbe High School and attended McNeese State University, Nichols State University, and Mississippi College. Michael was a cheerleader at each college and member of TKE fraternity at Nichols State. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force as an Administration Specialist Technician. Michael developed his love of gardening while working at Greengate Garden Center and became a master gardener. He was talented in decorating and delighted in making his home and that of his parents beautiful for holidays. He was also a hairstylist, having owned Opulence Salon and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Charles. Michael will be remembered for his gentle and kind-hearted spirit, ever sacrificing his own needs for those less fortunate.
He is survived by his mother, Margie L. Holladay, and his sister, Linda C. Holladay, both of Lake Charles. He was preceded in death by his father, Luther D. Holladay.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012, at Johnson Funeral Home. Dr. John Paul White will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until service time.
