Michael David Landry

December 28, 1978 — October 28, 2023

Michael David Landry was born December 28, 1978, to Larry and Sandi Landry. He was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana but lived in many places including College Station, Houston and Kemah, Texas, as well as his favored area, Captiva, Florida.

Even though life bore pain and struggle for Michael, he had many moments of joy, love, laughter, and adventure. His deep desire was to be known by his heart, to be loved and to give his devotion to others. He was a fierce friend, always rushing to the side of anyone who needed his help.

He had an amazing sense of humor. It was a blessing when you were given the gift of hearing him laugh. It was contagious and always brought a smile to anyone who heard it.
Michael had a gift and a passion for art. At a very early age he began art lessons and furthered his skills throughout his life until his body wouldn’t allow him to paint and draw. It was his ultimate outlet of expression, but when he wasn’t able to produce his works, he would go on adventures.

He had the most adventurous spirit. Thankfully Michael was born in Sportsman Paradise because he took every advantage of the outdoors. He had a deep love of the ocean. It was where he found enjoyment, peace, and solace. Any chance he had, he would gravitate to any body of water or beach. It brought him such joy.

Having an adventurous spirit, Michael tried to have pleasure to the fullest in all things. He was well traveled for someone so young. Many of his adventures brought him through Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, North Dakota and even Scotland, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain. He had such happiness in recounting all his trips.

Michael also had a plethora of hobbies. As mentioned, he was a gifted artist, but he was also gifted in the art of landscaping. The many varieties of roses that he grew were so beautiful, it would take your breath away. He loved making the outside world beautiful. Michael was also an avid woodworker. He enjoyed refurbishing furniture and creating his own pieces mixed in with his art. Again, making beauty of all things. The one hobby that made Michael feel free from his earthly struggles was scuba diving. Being in the water with all the ocean life gave him such a sense of ease. He enjoyed being still and watching the ocean world around him. He craved to go back as many times as his body would allow.

Michael’s true love in life was his son, Dayton Courville. He tried his very best through all his struggles to be the best that he could be for Dayton. His love also extended to his family who he left to cherish him forever, father and mother, Larry and Sandi Landry, sisters, Jodi Landry and Becky Fletcher, brother-in-law, Trey Fletcher, nieces and nephew, Megan Fletcher, Corporal Andrew Fletcher, USMC, and Addison Ates as well as many cousins and friends.

Per the request of the family, he will have a private memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
