Michael Ervin Arendt, age 75 of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Friday, June 21.
He was born on December 16, 1948, in Lake Charles to Mildred Arceneaux Arendt of Rayne, Louisiana and Edward Geary Arendt, of Middletown, Connecticut.
Mike graduated from LaGrange High School, in Lake Charles, in 1967.
He married Mary Maxine Meyers on August 9, 1975 and they had four children: Jonathan Patrick Arendt and wife Martha Johnson Arendt with their children Cecily, Nolan, and Evangeline, of Toronto, Canada; Michelle Renay Arendt of Lake Charles; Christopher Geary Arendt and wife Jessica Rachal Arendt with their children Madalynne, Michael, and Matthew of Westlake; and Tracy Allison Arendt of Lafayette and her puppy Asher.
He worked as a construction worker for Gilbert Arceneaux Construction in Lake Charles until he retired.
Mike was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing as well as cheering for the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers. His favorite place at home was in the outside kitchen he built, cooking for and with friends and family, as well as listening to the music (often too loudly) that he grew up with from the 50s and 60s. His weekly Wednesday Night Supper Crew gathering with friends was a joy to him for over 40 years. He took much pride in his sense of humor, joking with friends and loved ones; his and others’ laughter brought him so much happiness.
He loved his family deeply and is also survived by his brother Dennis Arendt and wife Beth Bouquet Arendt, of Lake Charles; and his aunt and godmother, Alberta O’Brien of Lake Charles.
He was preceded in passing by his wife, Maxine, and both of his parents.
