Michael W. "Mickey" Hart, 83, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Mickey was born on August 13, 1941, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Earl Webster and Inke Burns Hart.
In 1967, Mickey married the love of his life, Gail Faver Hart, sharing 57 years of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Together, they created a home where family came first, raising two children and later being blessed with grandchildren who were the light of his life. As a grandfather, he was a storyteller, a mentor, and a source of endless wisdom and warmth. Mickey was a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and attending their extracurricular activities. Mickey was also a loyal friend, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Mickey graduated from LaGrange High School, attended McNeese State University, and proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966. He served in Vietnam for 13 months as a helicopter machine gunner, where he showed great courage and dedication to his country.
After his military service, Mickey worked internationally for Texas Instruments, formerly known as Geophysical Service Incorporated, where he had the opportunity to work throughout South America, South Africa, and Southern Italy. Later, he worked for Alcoa, retiring as a Maintenance Manager after 30 years in 2001. His hobbies included square dancing, golfing, fishing, hunting, camping, and woodworking. He was known for his passion for life and the outdoors, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
Mickey is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Sam Hart, his son Michael "Bubba" Hart, and his grandson Lance Corporal Philip Woodson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gail Faver Hart; his daughter DeeDee Hart Woodson (Mark LeFevre); his daughter-in-law Michelle Hart; brother Daryl Hart (Sharlene); sister-in-law Kathy Hart; grandchildren Christopher Hart (Jessica), Corey Hart (Arrianne), Mat Woodson (Betsy), Emily Guillory (Alex), Regan Woodson; great-grandchildren Dominic, Temperance, Carter, Colby, Blayke; son-at-heart David Woodson; sisters-at-heart Sandy Faver Richard, Linda Faver Blanchard, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Mickey’s angel and niece, Denise Peshoff, for the loving care she gave, Lorene Patt with Heart of Hospice for her compassion and support during Mickey's illness, and Erin Dickey for officiating the funeral.
