Michael Lawrence Babineaux, 60, of Moss Bluff, LA died on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at his residence after a courage battle with cancer.
Michael was born March 8, 1951 in Lake Charles, LA, where he lived all of his life. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School and McNeese State University, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer, enjoyed woodworking and riding his Harley. He was proud of his Cajun heritage and loved waking his family up on Saturday mornings with French Music. He was a Mason and former Master of the Calcasieu 400 Masonic Lodge, a member of the Scottish Rite, and was a Shriner. He was a member of both St. Margaret Catholic Church and St. Theodore Catholic Church.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife of thirty-six years, Donna Mott Babineaux; his "crew", daughters, Shelley Bouillion and husband Blake of Lake Charles, Jill Robert and husband Ralph of Lafayette, Julie Babineaux Richard and husband Ned, and Cindi Babineaux; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Burdon (Elder) Babineaux, all of Lake Charles; brother, Mr. and Mrs. Perry (Renee) Babineaux of DeQuincy; and six grandchildren, Allie, Kade Michael, Kade Joseph, Colby, Jace, and Karlee.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Curtis Babineaux, Sr.
His funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 19, 2011 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
