Michael Lee Willett, 77, of Lake Charles passed away at 7:02 PM on Thursday, April 25, 2024 in a local hospice facility.
Mr. Willett was born on December 15, 1946 in Lake Charles where he lived all of his life. He attended St. Margaret’s Elementary School, graduated from Landry High School in 1964 as Valedictorian, and furthered his education at McNeese State University. His 35 year career was as an operator for Citgo.
He enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan, especially of LSU, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Astros. His favorite past time was sitting on the back patio talking to family and friends. Mr. Willett will be remembered for ability to make people laugh and smile. He was a family man and cherished his time at family gatherings and during the holidays.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Ginger Willett; mother-in-law, Verbie Gennuso; son, Eric Willett; daughter, Nicole Willett Skiehar (Shawn); grandchildren Hollin and Reid Skiehar; sister, Debbie Hall; nephew, Christopher Hall; and niece, Sarah Hall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Theresa “Tee” Willett.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until the start of the service with a rosary being recited at 1:00 PM.
