Michael "Mike" Ped Grant

Michael Ped Grant, 78, passed away on September 3, 2022, in his residence in Westlake, LA, after a long battle with Parkinson’s and Heart Disease.

Mike was born in Leesville, LA, on April 29, 1944, to Ped K. and Eva Allison Grant. He attended Fair Park High School in Shreveport, LA, and then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. After serving two tours of duty, he settled in Sulphur. He managed an equipment rental business for over twenty years and then became self-employed owning his own heavy construction business for over twenty years.

Mike is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Carolyn Austin Grant; one sister, Charlotte Grant Dennis of Shreveport, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley Grant Loyd; niece, Regan M. Dennis; nephew, Stacy Loyd; father-in-Law, Algar Austin; Mother-in-Law, Lois S. Austin; and Sister-in-Law, Mary Austin Falgoust.

Mike was a life member of the Westlake Masonic Lodge and a past member of the Habibi Shrine Temple. He was a past member of the Westlake Rotary Club, serving in various capacities.

Memorial donations may be made to one’s charity of Choice or to the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children at lovetotherescue.org. 

A memorial will be held at the home of Michael Grant in Westlake on Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M.
