Mike Stutes, 73, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at a local hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Mike was born on August 14, 1948 in Lake Charles, LA to Leo and Ruth Quibodeaux Stutes. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends and his fun-loving personality. As a young man, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He was the proud owner of Mike Stutes Auto Sales in Moss Bluff for the past 20 years. He loved cooking with his boys. He also had a deep love for music and was the lead man of Mike Stutes and the Moonlighters band for many years. He passed on that musical talent and love to his sons. He enjoyed taking trips with his family, especially his son Josh, with whom he is now reunited. It has been said that he never met a stranger and accepted everyone he met as they were.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Dougie Stutes; brother, Shannon Stutes, sister, Tonya Stutes; sons, Shane Stutes (Tressa), Chris McKlemurry (Francelle), Jason Stutes (Kathryn), Chad Stutes (Jessica), Brandon Stutes (Kate), and only daughter Angel Abercrombie (Josh); grandchildren, Megan (Duhon), Megan (Shillow), Cole, Ryan, Haley, Laken, Reagan, Cameron, Brantley, Taylor, Zach, Gage, Carley, Adelyn, and Elle; and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Josh Stutes; his sister, Linda Ogea; and his parents.
His funeral service will be held at First Pentecostal Church of Lake Charles on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. Rev. Jeff Ralston will officiate. Burial will be in New Ritchie Cemetery Tuesday at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will resume at First Pentecostal Church of Lake Charles on Monday from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
