Mildred Bullock Nash, 75, of Moss Bluff, was victorious in her fifth battle with cancer on Wednesday January 20, 2016 in the comfort of her home with her family at her side.
Mildred was a native of Independence, Louisiana and moved to DeRidder at an early age. While going to DeRidder High School, she met the love of her life and best friend, Howard “Bud” Nash. She was a 1958 graduate of DeRidder High School, and following graduation her and Bud followed his military assignments until settling in Moss Bluff to make her home. Through much of this time, they shared their home with numerous children when she was the owner and operator of Nannie & Poppie Day Care in Moss Bluff. While she did retire from the day to day care of many children, she never retired from her primary job of keeping Bud in line! She was a faithful member of Westside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlis H. and Bessie Reid Bullock. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Howard “Bud” Nash; four daughters, Diane Patrice Huisingh and husband Michael, Valdez, Alaska; Hester Diane LeMire and husband John, Bentonville, Arkansas; Heather Denise Medicis and husband Lynn Ray, Moss Bluff and Melanie Gentry and husband Jim of Westlake; two sisters Pearl Payne, San Antonio, Texas and Evelyn Stople and husband John, St. Louis, Missouri; a brother, Henry Bullock and wife CiCi, West Monroe, Louisiana; as well as a large extended family and family of the heart.
As to Mildred’s request, a graveside burial service was held at Old Richie Cemetery on Thursday January 21, 2016. The Rev. Luke Liechty officiated.
