Mildred Manuel

Mildred Manuel, 80, of Lake Charles passed away at 7:47 AM on Thursday, December 13, 2012 in her residence.

Mrs. Manuel was born on February 1, 1932 in Mamou, LA. She was an extraordinary woman with many amazing qualities. Her entire life was devoted to her husband and children. Mrs. Manuel had a passion for cooking and enjoyed feeding everyone. Her door was always open to family and friends and she never met a stranger. She had a warm and welcoming soul that will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Roland Manuel; son, Chad Manuel and wife Barbara; a daughter, Jennifer Jenny Napoli; her grandchildren, whom she adored, and their spouses, Tammie Thomas and Ricky, Yvette Shaughnessy and Tim, Shane Manuel and Kristy, Amanda Blair and Preston, Kristen Moore and Ben, and Anna Chandler, Colby, Corey and Mica; and her loving great grandchildren, Brittanie Manuel, Austin Bazinet, Logan and Collin Shaughnessy, Andrew Ogea, Mark Manuel, Peyton Blair, Lizzy Moore, Ethan and Ellie Manuel.

She was preceded in death by her oldest child, Wilvin Ray Manuel.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM on Sunday, December 16, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Consolata Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 12:30 until the start of the service with a rosary being recited at 1:30 PM.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Shane Manuel, Former Governor Edwin W. Edwards, District Attorney John Derosier, Claude Buddy Leach, and Carl Krielow.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Keith Lexingburg and staff for giving such great care and love to Mildred.
