Mildred Dumatrait Smithers Bell, 96, died on Monday, February 11, 2013 in her residence.
Mrs. Bell was born April 30, 1916 to Emile and Emily (Gondran) Dumatrait. She attended St. Charles Academy, where she graduated Valedictorian. After high school, she worked in the family business, Dumatrait's Grocery Store. A homemaker, friend, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was an excellent cook and seamstress.
She is survived by her son, James Smithers and wife, Noemi; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William and Henry Dumatrait; one sister, Gertrude Dumatrait Boudreaux; son, E. J. Smithers; daughter, Teresa Smithers Treadway; and husbands, E. C. Smithers and David Bell.
As per her wishes, her body will be cremated and a memorial service will be at a later date under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home
