Mildred (Champagne) Richard, 83, went to meet her Lord on January 8, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Crowley, LA in 1935 to the late Edmond and Eva Champagne. Following high school she diligently attended and graduated business school. Mildred with her husband Malcolm proudly served their community in several businesses, community outreaches, and through their church. Mildred married the love of her life, Malcolm in 1955 and they loved and laughed for 62 years as they raised their 4 children. She loved entertaining family and friends and served in multiple areas of Glad Tidings Assembly of God for over 45 years. She was also a faithful member of the Thursday morning prayer group.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 7 brothers and daughter, Kathy.
She is survived by her loving daughter Kayla Gilmore and her husband Joe; sons, Billy Richard and his wife K. D., Charles Richard and his wife Sandy, Carl Richard and his wife Cindy; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Hoffpauir. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew her.
Her funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 10 AM. The Rev. Carl Richard will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Greenwood Cemetery in Jennings, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6 PM until 8 PM and will resume on Wednesday from 8 AM until the start of the service.
