Mildred Vincent was born June 27, 1926 to her parents Regina LeBlanc and Paul Miller in Sunset, Louisiana and passed away on December 22, 2024. Mildred was predeceased by her loving husband Leon Vincent; her parents; two brothers, Harry ‘Pistol Pete’ Miller and Gerald Miller; grandson Joseph “Joe” Welch; and son Ronald “Ronnie” Vincent.
She and her husband, Leon Vincent married February 3, 1945 and had 3 children, Ronnie Vincent, Glenda Welch, and Anjanette Portie. She was a loving mother, grandma, and great-grandma who devoted her life to her family.
Mildred grew up on a farm, milking her family’s cows and tending to the animals, alongside her two brothers. As an adult, she never missed the opportunity to be with her friends and family, or the chance to play bingo. She loved being an active member of the community, participating in local events at the Hackberry community center, the library and Council of Aging where she also won many awards including being recognized during Older Americans Month in 2024. She will always be remembered for her rich story telling and warm laughter. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she was a beautiful soul who would help anyone.
Mildred is survived by her two daughters, Glenda Welch and husband Gerald “Wayne” Welch, Anjanette Portie and husband Keith “Fatcat” Portie; her grandchildren Chad Portie, his husband Daniel Portie and their children, AJ, Leo and Ahmad Portie, Kamie “Kam” Portie, her partner Andrew Kowarsch and their children Amadeus and Leona Kowarsch; and great-grandchildren Blair Welch and Brice Trahan.
Though she is gone, her memory and legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
