Millard Louis M.L. Rossett, Jr.

Millard Louis Rossett, 86, of Ragley, LA passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012 in a local hospital.


Mr. Rossett was born November 16, 1925 in Many, LA to Millard Louis Rossett, Sr. and Gladys Herren Rossett. He has lived forty-five years in the Lake Charles and Ragley area. He served the United States Navy as Gunner's Mate during WWII. Following his discharge, Mr. Rossett worked for Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company in Shreveport. He then began his career of nearly forty years with the Railroad, retiring an Engineer.


Mr. Rossett was a member of the Habibi Shriners and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen. He served many years, as long as he was physically able, as a Deacon and youth Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of Gillis. Mr. Rossett was blessed with many wonderful friends in the church and community. He greatly enjoyed shrimping and fishing.


He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of sixty-six years, Julia Phillips Rossett of Ragley; one son, Rex Louis Rossett and wife Ethel of Valparaiso, FL; two daughters, Jeanne Rossett Darbonne and Raynell Lee Rossett, both of Ragley; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Roger Rossett, Sr. and wife Reita of Shreveport; one niece and four nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marjorie E. Riley; one brother, Thomas M. Rossett and one great-granddaughter, Ashlea Alexis Richard.


Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 31, 2012 in First Baptist Church of Gillis. Reverend Glenn George will officiate. Interment will follow in Squyres- Risinger Memorial Park in Ragley. Visitation in the church Tuesday will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Gillis Building Fund, 678 Topsy Road, Lake Charles, LA 70611.
